Cubicles & Headphones: This Playlist Will Help Power Through Your 9 To 5
It is not Friday, the weekend is not approaching, in fact; it’s some off-hand day like Tuesday, where you’re not even half way through the succession of the work week and although you love your job as it’s exactly what you expected given the your starting salary- it’s still only Tuesday and your coworker keeps stopping by your desk to talk about turning 25 for the sixth year in a row while your cubicle mate, Denise, eats Fritos, again for lunch.
Chatty co-workers, smelly ones, weird ones, lazy ones are all a part of office culture and because of that, loving what you do doesn’t always keep you from developing some form of OCD that involves pulling out eyebrow hairs at the end of the day. It’s important that in the midst of these weekdays that push together creating some long drawn out day filled with calls, emails and micro-managing by a supervisor who’s in desperate need of a leadership workshop, to you have an outlet, something to help you refocus.
You need headphones and a playlist.
Within those headphones, every expletive is for your ears only, every high note and encouraging lyric- for you, and you alone. We all need a moment, some of us…more moments but it’s only to remind us that waiting for the weekend was something we’d promised ourselves we’d never do. We must learn how to enjoy our days, including all the little eccentricities it brings. Check out our Spotify playlist and let us know what you think in comments below.
